The ways you choose to promote one website, might be totally different than the ways you would choose to promote a different website.

When deciding on which methods to use for promoting your website several things should be considered. First and foremost is who your target audience is. This is, who are you trying to draw to your website? This could be anything from, people looking to buy a house, to people who play video games.

One of the great things about having your own website is that you decide how to market it and how much you’re willing to spend to do so. You could literally spend thousands a day or you could spend little to no money at all. What’s most important is that you’re not paying more for promotion than you’re making from the website.

The more you do on your own the less you’ll spend in this area. However, sometimes it might be best to pay someone a reasonable fee that knows what they’re doing. Again, as long as you’re making a profit you can change this later as you see fit. The most important thing is that you do something to promote it within your personal and financial comfort zone.

Free website promotion, is anything that you do or have done for you that bring traffic to your website. This could be:

• Email Campaigns
• Joint Venture (JV) Marketing

Keep in mind that just because a particular type of website promotion is free it doesn’t necessarily mean that it may not be extremely effective. In fact in many cases some of the free promotional methods might be more effective than the paid.

Website Traffic Conversion

Regardless of where your traffic is coming from if you don’t convert those visitors into buyers or customers it’s of no use to you. You’re not in a contest to see how many visitors you can get. Your goal is to make as much money as you can from the visitors you do get. I’d rather have 10 visitors a day and 2 sales, than 200 visitors a day and 1 sale.

Here’s what my feelings are on Website promotion; Ensure the promotional method you’re using is getting the right type of people to your website. Pay as little for these targeted visitors as you can, get as many of these visitors as you can, from as many places as you can, and then offer them something that they can’t resist and that makes you a profit. This is how you go from having a website as a hobby, to having an Internet Marketing Business!
