The Basics of Webpage Search Engine Optimization!
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of a Website or Webpage is really not as difficult as it may sound. Although there are many things that are taken into consideration when attempting to optimize a Webpage, there are several that are of major importance.
- Webpage or Website content
- Internal Links
- Outbound Links
- Inbound links
Search Engines determine the relevance of a webpage based on the content within that webpage as it relates to any search being conducted, regardless of what search engine is being used. The goal of all search engines is to find the most relevant webpage for the term that is being searched for by its users.
Types of Links
Internal links are nothing more than the links that lead from one page to another within a particular website.
Outbound Links are the links that lead from one Website to another Website.
Inbound links are simply the links that are listed on a website that lead a person to another website when they are clicked upon.
How Links Affect SEO
The more Internal and Outbound links a Webpage has, the more it dilutes the importance of that webpage in the eyes of the search engines.
On the same token, the more Websites that have links leading to your website, the more relevant the search engines believe that website is for the words used in that link.
Importance of Link Text
Link text, also referred to as “Anchor Text” is also very important. For instance, if the actual link to a particular Webpage is the words “Puppy Training”, then the search engines would check to see if the webpage that this link points too, has good content for “Puppy Training”. If it does than that helps boost the relevance of that Webpage for the term “Puppy Training”.
The better a Webpage is optimized for a particular word or phrase the higher it will appear in the Search Engine results, which will have a great affect on the amount of traffic you get from the Search Engines.
