Internet Marketing – What Are Keywords?

If you’re new to Internet Marketing there are some terms that we use that may be unfamiliar to you. Don’t let this scare you off! Marketing your Network Marketing, MLM, or Home Based Business on the Internet can be extremely rewarding once you learn the basics of what you’re doing.

What Are Keywords

“Keywords” are really nothing more than the words and phrases that someone types in to a Search Engine, when they’re looking for something. This is referred to as a Search Engine Query. There are primarily two types of keywords:

1.  Keyword
2.  Longtail Keywords

A Keyword is a single word or a base word that vaguely describes a subject. An example of this would be Roses.

Longtail Keywords

“Longtail Keywords” are made up by combining several words or phrases, making a much more precise and targeted search. For instance some longtail keywords for Roses might be, Growing Roses, Rose Gardening, or White Roses.

For a searcher, the longtail keyword is more specific, and helps them find exactly what they’re looking for. From the Webmasters viewpoint, longtail keywords can help sort out the people that are looking for exactly what you’re offering.

Keyword Research

Having a website is great, but if you have no visitors it does you no good! Using the right keywords for your Website will get you targeted traffic, so it’s important to spend some time determining which keywords to use on your Website.
